international relations
The International Unit serves as the focal point for international tourism cooperation and engagement for Brunei Darussalam. The Unit facilitates the development of the tourism sector through coordination of activities under regional and international tourism platforms, as well as bilateral and multilateral arrangements with foreign counterparts.
The Unit represents Brunei Darussalam in key tourism organisations and forums, including ASEAN, BIMP-EAGA, UN Tourism (UNWTO), APEC, and other relevant international bodies. This includes coordinating ministerial-level and National Tourism Organisation (NTO)-level meetings, technical working groups, workshops and projects, as well as preparing substantive inputs and official documentation.
In addition, the International Unit coordinates bilateral and multilateral tourism cooperation with other countries, including the review and implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Plans of Action, and works closely with relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on related matters.
The Unit also supports the organisation of international tourism meetings, seminars and workshops hosted by Brunei Darussalam, manages logistical and protocol arrangements for official visits and courtesy calls, and facilitates cooperation on tourism facilitation matters such as visa arrangements, air connectivity and cross-border linkages, in line with national tourism development objectives.
