BRUNEI DARUSSALAM WELCOMES PIANO LAND AS CRUISE MOMENTUM CONTINUES

Brunei Darussalam today welcomed the international cruiseship Piano Land, carrying 1,336 passengers and 497 crew members. Arriving from Kota Kinabalu, the vessel’s passengers enjoyed Brunei’s tourism offerings before continuing their voyage to Hong Kong. The majority of passengers were Chinese tourists, underscoring the Sultanate’s growing appeal among the Chinese market and international cruise travellers.
Upon arrival, passengers were welcomed with traditional hadrah performances, reflecting Brunei Darussalam’s rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality. During their time ashore, passengers visited key attractions in the capital, including a photo stop in front of Istana Nurul Iman and a visit to Balai Khazanah to learn more about the personal collections of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and other few attractions. The passengers also had the opportunity to explore and purchase the authentic local souvenirs available at the Cruise Ship Centre following their tour.
Several positive feedbacks have been received from Chinese passengers following their short visit, highlighting Brunei Darussalam’s growing appeal as a unique and culturally rich cruise destination. Visitors appreciated the country’s peaceful atmosphere, well-preserved landmarks, and warm hospitality. Many also praised the friendliness of the local community and guides, who provided opportunities to learn more about Brunei’s culture and heritage. Some passengers expressed interest in returning to further explore the Sultanate’s nature-based and cultural attractions.
With the arrival of Piano Land today, Brunei Darussalam has welcomed 13 international cruise ships so far this year, out of approximately 30 expected in 2026. The growing frequency of cruise calls reflects increasing confidence among international operators in Brunei’s readiness, infrastructure, and distinctive tourism offerings, further establishing the Sultanate as a notable cruise destination. Notably, Piano Land is expected to return later this month, while the next maiden call is set for the cruise ship Amadea on 6 April 2026, reinforcing Brunei’s continued appeal in the regional cruise market.
